For a long weekend at home, the checklist is simple: drinks and ice, food for the barbecue and breakfasts, snacks, and the small basics that always seem to run out on day two. Plan it once, put it all on one order, and let us do the running around.

Here is a checklist to work through before the weekend starts.

What should be on my long weekend checklist?

Drinks

• Beer, wine or spirits, if you are having them
• Mix: pop, soda water, tonic and juice
• Non-alcoholic options for kids and drivers
• Water
• Ice for drinks and the cooler

Food

• Barbecue basics: burgers, sausages, buns and condiments
• Salad fixings and fresh fruit
• Breakfast for three mornings: eggs, bread, milk, coffee
• Snacks: chips, dips, popcorn and something sweet

Around the house

• Paper plates, cups, napkins and garbage bags
• Sunscreen and bug spray
• Batteries and a working bulb for the patio light
• Pet food, so nobody is out on the Monday

How do I get it all in one order?

Put every store on the same order. A typical long weekend run might be the LCBO, a grocery store and a convenience store for ice. Each additional stop on the same order starts at $4.

• List each store and what you want from it.
• Add brands and sizes where they matter.
• Choose a substitution preference: Call me, Closest match, or Skip it.
• Choose As soon as possible, or Schedule a time.

No app and no account. Dispatch, a real person, calls every online order to confirm the details and give you an approximate delivery time.

If your order includes alcohol, have photo ID ready at the door. You must be 19 or older to purchase alcohol in Ontario.

When should I order?

Earlier is easier. Long weekends are busy for everyone, so it pays to plan.

• Write your list mid-week. Check the fridge, the freezer and the cupboards.
• Schedule the main delivery. Use Schedule a time on the order form.
• Keep a short top-up list. Ice and milk are the usual ones you will need again.
• Check our hours. We are open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you have a question about a particular day, give us a call.

Where do you deliver? Ajax and Whitby, with a published delivery fee of $8.99. Brooklin, Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville are call for pricing. If you are not sure your address is covered, call before you order.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Interac debit.

A few long weekend habits

• Pace the drinks and keep water out on hot days.
• If anyone has been drinking, stay home, we’ll drive.
• Freeze a few bottles of water. They keep the cooler cold and you can drink them later.
• Keep your phone handy after you order, in case we call from the store.
