Winter hardware errands usually come down to three things: salt, light bulbs and filters. We pick up hardware and home items, so you can send us for ice melt, the right bulb or your furnace filter instead of driving to the store on a cold, slippery day.
The trick is giving us the right details, because a filter that is one size off is no use to anyone. Here is what to tell us.
What hardware items can Bottle Buddeez pick up?
We pick up hardware and home basics, including:
- Salt and ice melt for steps, driveways and walkways
- Water softener salt
- Light bulbs
- Furnace filters
- Batteries and other small household basics
See our hardware and home page for more.
How do I order the right salt?
“Salt” can mean two different things in winter, so tell us which one:
- Ice melt or rock salt for outdoor steps, walkways and driveways.
- Water softener salt for the softener in your basement.
Give us the bag size and how many bags you want. If you have a brand you like, say so. These bags are heavy, which makes them exactly the kind of errand worth handing off.
How do I order the right light bulb?
Bulbs come in a lot of variations. To get the right one, tell us:
- The base: standard, small candelabra, or another type. The old bulb usually shows it.
- The shape: standard, globe, flood or candle.
- Brightness: the wattage, or the equivalent wattage on an LED.
- Colour: warm or soft white, or daylight.
- Quantity: how many of each.
The easiest way is to read what is printed on the old bulb or its box and put it in your notes.
How do I order the right furnace filter?
Furnace filters are sized, and the size is usually printed on the edge of the filter frame. Before you order:
- Pull out your current filter and find the dimensions on the frame.
- Write down all three numbers, including the thickness.
- Note the rating or type if you have a preference.
- Tell us how many. Some people like to keep a spare.
If there is any doubt, choose Call me for substitutions, and we will call from the store before we pick something.
How do I place the order?
Use the order form or call 289-275-0767.
- Name the store, or tell us any hardware store that carries it is fine.
- Add the details above.
- Choose a substitution preference: Call me, Closest match, or Skip it.
- Choose As soon as possible, or Schedule a time.
No app and no account. Dispatch, a real person, calls every online order to confirm the details and give you an approximate delivery time.
Hardware runs combine well with other errands, like groceries or a pharmacy pickup. Each additional stop on the same order starts at $4.
Where do you deliver? Ajax and Whitby, with a published delivery fee of $8.99. Brooklin, Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville are call for pricing. If you are not sure your address is covered, call before you order.
We accept Visa, Mastercard and Interac debit.
A few winter habits
- Buy salt before the first freeze, not after the first fall.
- Keep a spare furnace filter in the basement.
- Replace a burnt-out porch bulb quickly. A lit door is safer for everyone, including us.
Send us the details on the order form or call 289-275-0767. We are open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
