For a good game night, you need four things on hand: snacks people can eat with one hand, plenty of ice, a mix of drinks including non-alcoholic ones, and something easy for a proper meal. If you would rather not leave the couch before kickoff, we can pick it all up and bring it in one order.
Whether it is the big game on TV or a board game night at the kitchen table, here is a checklist to work from.
What snacks should I get for game night?
Go for food that works with one hand and does not need a plate:
- Chips, pretzels and popcorn
- Dips and salsa
- Nuts and trail mix
- Crackers and cheese
- Veggies and dip for balance
- Something sweet, like cookies or candy
A good rule of thumb is a mix of salty, crunchy and something fresh. If the game runs long, people will graze.
How much ice do I need?
More than you think. Ice goes into drinks and into the cooler or sink to keep cans cold, and it melts faster in a warm room full of people. If you are filling a cooler as well as glasses, plan on extra bags.
Ice is a classic convenience store run, and it is one of the most common things we pick up. See our convenience store runs.
What drinks should I have?
Cover a range, so every guest has something they like:
- Beer: a case of something familiar, plus a few cans of something different.
- Wine: a red and a white work for most crowds.
- Spirits and mix: if you are making a simple drink, do not forget the pop, soda or juice to go with it.
- Non-alcoholic options: pop, sparkling water and juice. Not everyone is drinking, and the drivers in the group will thank you.
- Water: always.
We pick up from the LCBO and The Beer Store. You must be 19 or older to purchase alcohol in Ontario, and photo ID is required at the door. Bottle Buddeez is not affiliated with the LCBO or The Beer Store.
And if anyone has had a few, the easy answer is: stay home, we’ll drive.
What about dinner? Snacks carry you through the first half. For the real meal, takeout is easy. We do takeout pickup from restaurants, so you can add it to the same order as your drinks and snacks.
How do I get it all in one delivery?
Put every store on one order. A typical game night run might be:
- LCBO or The Beer Store for drinks
- Convenience store for ice, mix and chips
- A restaurant for takeout
Each additional stop on the same order starts at $4. In Ajax and Whitby, the published delivery fee is $8.99. Brooklin, Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville are call for pricing.
Use the order form to list each store and what you want from it. Choose As soon as possible, or schedule a time so it all arrives before the game starts. Dispatch calls every online order to confirm the details and give you an approximate delivery time.
A few game night tips
- Order before guests arrive, so you are not running out mid-game.
- Put brands and sizes in your notes. “Large bag of plain chips” beats “chips”.
- Pick a substitution option that suits you: Call me, Closest match, or Skip it.
- Keep your phone handy in case we call from the store.
- Have photo ID and payment ready: we accept Visa, Mastercard and Interac debit.
Send your game night list through the order form or call us at 289-275-0767. We are open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
