What to have ready when your alcohol delivery arrives

Photo ID, a payment card and someone 19 or older at the door: what to have ready when beer, wine or spirits arrive.

When your alcohol delivery arrives, have valid photo ID ready at the door. Ontario law requires you to be 19 or older to purchase alcohol, and photo ID is required when we hand it over. Have your payment ready too: we accept Visa, Mastercard and Interac debit.

That is the short version. Here is a little more on what to expect, so the handoff at your door is quick and easy.

Why do I need photo ID for alcohol delivery?

Because it is the law in Ontario. You must be 19 or older to purchase alcohol, and that applies whether you buy it at a counter or have it delivered. Bottle Buddeez is AGCO licensed, and checking photo ID at the door is part of doing it properly.

It is not personal. We check ID at the door on alcohol orders, the same way a cashier would.

What should I have ready at the door?

Keep it simple:

  • Valid photo ID for the person accepting the order.
  • Payment: Visa, Mastercard or Interac debit.
  • Your phone nearby, in case we call when we are close or need to check a detail.
  • A clear path to the door, and a porch light on if it is dark out.

If you are ordering for a get-together, think about who will be at the door when we arrive. The person who accepts the order needs to have photo ID and be 19 or older.

What can I order from the LCBO and The Beer Store?

Beer, wine and spirits. Tell us exactly what you want:

  • Brand and product name, as close as you can get it.
  • Size: a single can or a case, a 750 mL bottle or a larger one.
  • Quantity: how many of each.
  • A backup, if you have one in mind.

Then choose how to handle anything that is not on the shelf: Call me, Closest match, or Skip it. With wine and spirits, many people pick Call me, since a close match is a matter of taste.

One thing to know: Bottle Buddeez is not affiliated with the LCBO or The Beer Store. We are a local delivery and errand service that does the shopping and the waiting in line for you. More on this on our LCBO and Beer Store page.

Can I add other stops to an alcohol order? Yes. A lot of people add ice, pop or mix and some snacks from a convenience store, or a few groceries for dinner. Each additional stop on the same order starts at $4.

How does ordering work?

Use the order form or call us at 289-275-0767. No app and no account needed.

After you send an online order, a real person in dispatch calls to confirm the details and give you an approximate delivery time. That call is a good moment to double-check the brand and size, or add something you forgot.

We deliver in Ajax and Whitby, where the published delivery fee is $8.99. Brooklin, Oshawa, Courtice and Bowmanville are call for pricing. Not sure if your address is covered? Call before you order.

A few reminders

  • Enjoy responsibly, and plan for drinks that are not alcoholic too.
  • If you are hosting, stay home, we’ll drive.
  • Have photo ID ready every time, even if we have delivered to you before.
  • Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

More questions about ID or payment? Our FAQ page covers the common ones.
